2008-2009 Teacher of the Year



My name is Deb Meisenheimer and I am the Title I Reading Specialist at Ingels Accelerated Elementary.  I am beginning my 15th year of teaching at Ingels and my 18th year in education.  I received my Bachelor of Science in Education from Emporia State University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Webster University.  I have taught 6th, 3rd, and 1st grades prior to becoming the Reading Specialist.  I am married and have two beautiful little girls.  In my free time, I love to read and spend time with my husband, Jeff and daughters, Kelbi and Kamryn.  

Most recently, I was honored with the titles of Ingels Building Teacher of the Year and Hickman Mills C-1 District Teacher of the Year.  I feel blessed to have received these honors and to be working with such a great group of people.  I love what I do and look forward to a fantastic school year of helping students build vocabulary, develop comprehension strategies, increase their fluency, and use phonics and phonemic awareness to improve their reading.
