Activities that took place in January included our first grade "March on Washington" (actually a march on Ingels) to commemorate the Martin Luther King holiday, the World's Finest Chocolate fundraiser, our Power Friday PTA membership drive (86 memberships so far) and our successful parent night of
"Are You Smarter Than a Gradeschooler".
Families enjoyed games and food, and they received more information about our Reading First program and ideas to help prepare students for the upcoming MAP test. Students who won the drawings for a McDonald's gift card were Cydney Johnson and Madison Clark (5th), Jazell Randolph and Lorenzo Harrison (4th), Malik Looney and Tyricha Kinney (3rd), Miyanna Dozier and Terriane Smith (2nd), Cierra Coppage and Darius Brewington (1st) and Johanthan Stepp and Travelle Leak (Kdgn). The evening was enjoyable - a high five goes out to our parents who struggled through proving that they were "smarter than a gradeschooler"!
